Last night I saw the second installment of the twilight 'series'. Only read further if you are NOT a fan, as I can't hold back!! And remember - this is my opinion and my journal :)

8th-Feb-2009 08:24 pm - Slumdog Millionaire
celtic symbol
I went to a Sunday afternoon matinee by myself to watch Slumdog Millionaire. It was very well done.

At times it was difficult to watch. I hate to see children suffering :( I was also reminded of my trip to Cairo - the garbage, the poverty, and the children begging.

But really it was about love, hope and truly believing :)

I am torn between Slumdog and Benjamin Button. There were quite a few similarities between the two films.

I finally saw The Curious Case of Benjamin Button last night! I was worried about it being almost 3 hours long (was with all the previews!), but the movie flew by. I enjoyed it. It was beautifully shot and the special aging/de-aging effects were flawless. When we see Benjamin old (but young) it almost looked like Brad from his Thelma & Louise role! I was awe struck by him! I actually prefer just watching Brad, not hearing him talk or act!! LOL not that I am a stalker or anything ;)
19th-Aug-2008 08:55 am - HellBoy 2, etc
c&l zod
Saw HellBoy 2 on the weekend - not too bad. Lots of comedy, great creatures, and typical graphic novel plot, i.e. you really don't know what's going on, but know that the good guys will win and the bad guys will succumb to a gory end ;) And, that's what happened!

X-Files is no longer showing in theatres. It will make it's rounds at the 'cheap' theatres about the same time it's released to DVD.

I am very curious about the upcoming Zack and Miri Make a Porno, Kevin Smith production. I saw a snipet posted on community on livejournal with Kevin Smith talking a bit and showing a clip. I really like Kevin Smith's stuff ;)
2nd-Aug-2008 09:12 am - the dark knight..
ennis looking
I went to a matinee showing of The Dark Knight yesterday afternoon. I am not sure what I think about it! It definitely was 'dark'! Heath Ledger's portrayal of the Joker was creepy and psychopathic. He really went to a whole new level with his interpretation. It was his movie.

I got lost in the plot, not really sure what was going on! I was glad that Katie Holmes was out and Maggie Gyllenhaal was in - very good casting decision :)

There are actually quite a few movies I want to see: Hellboy 2, Wanted, X-Files (I know, it's supposed to be crap!), The Mummy 3.
6th-Mar-2007 02:06 pm - tuesday update

It was my girls' birthday weekend. They ended up meeting four friends Friday night to watch a movie. I went to the same movie but did not sit with them :) The movie was Zodiac. A very interesting watch, although long at 2 hrs and 40 mins! It was not as violent as I had been anticipating. Jake Gyllenhaal seemed quite passive, but that was probably his character. Robert Downey Jr was very good, he has great screen presence.

Last night I met Man#2 (I met him two weeks ago for a coffee date) for dinner. He had called Saturday night. We had a fun conversation and he suggested meeting for dinner during that phone call. So last night was the night. I had soooo much fun!! We laughed and chatted and a pleasant time was had by all ;) I felt very respected by and comfortable with him. He walked me to my car and gave me a hug. We agreed to continue to talk on the phone and meet when we could. It was a very positive experience for me :)

22nd-Oct-2006 09:31 am - "The Prestige"
celtic symbol
I saw "The Prestige" last night and I HIGHLY recommend it! It was amazing! It's the tragic story of two magicians caught up with obsession in out-performing one another by coming up with more and more fantastic magic tricks. Ok that's what it's about on ONE level... There was several layers to this movie. I got so involved in the story. The acting was incredible. Hugh Jackman and Christian Bale are the leads, with very strong support from Michael Caine and an actress who plays Bale's wife, Rebecca Hall. She is new to me.

I really can't say anymore or, like a good magic trick, I will give it away.

Go see it :)
25th-Jul-2006 10:24 am - "Lady in the Water"
celtic symbol
I saw Lady in the Water last night with my girls. The reviews have not be favourable! But I liked it :) It was different than I was expecting. I would describe it as a fairy tale. Thinking of it this way, suspending 'reality' made the movie more watchable. Kind of what I did while watching The Lake House!
