In response to a posting in
cerisaye's journal, I had to post about Showtime's
Dexter IMDB. I bought the first season on DVD and watched all 12 episodes over the past week. It was fascinating! Dexter is a blood spatter expert working for the Miami Police Department. But he is also a serial killer, who kills other serial killers!!
Dexter is played by Michael C Hall (David from Six Feet Under) and he is amazing in this role. Dexter is a complete sociopath (or antisocial personality disorder). He doesn't understand feelings. What is fascinating about the series is that Dexter talks in the background about not fitting in, not understanding feelings, and his confusion about intimacy (he has a girlfriend).
Dexter was instilled with a 'code of conduct' by his foster father (a policeman) about channeling his killing urges. When Dexter does kill, it was almost a shock to watch because he seems so 'normal'. It's when he is killing, you notice how controlled he has lived his life. He comes alive when he kills.
